Research

I work within critical dance studies as a widely construed field, combining historical research, critical theory, and practice-based perspectives on historiographic knowledge. I am interested in the periphery as a space of epistemic grounding and in questioning the notion of dance modernity in both macro- and micro-historical frameworks. An over-reaching concern underlying my work is identifying the impact of Enlightenment thinking on dominant dance ideology and seeking ways of undoing it.
